The Village Community Foundation (VCF) creates access and opportunity in the worlds of culture and entertainment. We operate out of our vibrant hub, The Village in Stamford, CT—a place where people with barriers to success can discover and unlock their full potential. We achieve this through three marquee programs; Career Discovery, helping students access the entertainment industry. The Kitchen Incubator, discovering and accelerating emerging chefs and restaurateurs. And Curated Spaces, featuring local artists in our three gallery spaces at The Village and beyond.
LiveGirl, Inc. is a Connecticut-based nonprofit organization that builds confident, inclusive leaders. Our mission is to prepare the next generation of diverse, brave female leaders with the skills, community, and connections so that ALL girls may thrive and make a positive impact on the world.
LiveGirl participants brought sweetness to the CoCreate Winter Village 2023 event through their decorative chocolate display. Utilizing the Thermoform equipment available in FirstBuild at CoCreate as well as the CoCook Test Kitchen, they created customized holiday inspired chocolate bars.
Students from Westhill High School Construction and manufacturing program and the Jazz Ensemble joined our team to help bring CoCreate Winter Village 2023 to life. Their vision and talents lead to the creation of the centerpiece light display as well as warmed the hearts of attendees through their musical inspiration.
The buildOn mission is to break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy, and low expectations through service and education. They mobilize U.S. students to transform our communities through service and change the world by building schools in developing countries. Participants from Bridgeport, CT where buildOn is headquartered, brought their talents to CoCreate to help bring Winter Village 2023 to life through a holiday inspired Pine Tree Forest.
Reach Prep, located in Stamford, provides access to transformational educational experiences that empower underserved, high-achieving students to graduate from top colleges and emerge as the next generation of leaders. Their 6th and 7th graders highlighted the power of gratitude through the creation of a holiday card display with cards they decorated using custom stamps that they created in the CoCreate Maker Space, FirstBuild.
Boys & Girls Club of Stamford serves over 1,600 children grades k-12 through their dedicated youth facility that is open daily, managed by professional staff, and made available and affordable to all youth. A group of their members illuminated CoCreate during the CoCreate Winter Village 2023 event through the creation of over 100 candles customized with laser engraved lids and Thermoform wraps.
Family Centers is a private, nonprofit organization offering education, health and human services to children, adults and families in Fairfield County. More than 300 professionals and hundreds of trained volunteers work together to provide our communities with a wide range of responsive and innovative services. Our multi-faceted network of health, education and human service programs give individuals and families the tools needed to establish a strong educational foundation, overcome complex and critical problems, carry on healthy productive lives and achieve personal improvement.
Heart & Purpose accomplishes its mission by promoting education and economic empowerment for low-income students through creative fundraising, back-to-school drives, and steady partnerships with like-minded organizations.
We serve inner-city youth of lower Fairfield County, as well as impoverished families around the world. We’ve begun in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and we will continue to grow and serve more communities in the coming years.
